How claims on this site are sourced

Anything on this site that sounds like a credential should be checkable. This page is the register. It lists what is published and what is being held back, and why. Last reviewed 2026-07-19.

The standard

A claim appears on this site when it links to a source you can open: either a page published by someone other than us, or a scan of the original document hosted here. If neither exists, the claim comes off the site until one does. That rule applies to awards and press coverage equally, and it is why some things you might expect to see are missing.

Where a linked page does not name Scott or Ciel Power directly, the link is labelled for what it actually is. A programme directory that lists a category is not proof of membership, and it is not described as though it were.

  • 2023 Home Performance with ENERGY STAR Sustained Excellence. Source EPA partner page carries the designation. The 2023 award year is independently fixed by the ENERGY STAR Awards team notification of 2023-07-14, which names the award outright.
  • 2022 PSE&G Residential Program Trade Ally Award. Source Recognises performance from program inception through December 2022. Badge issued April 2023; certificates presented at the ceremony of 2023-04-13.
  • 2023 PSE&G Top 10 Contractor, Home Performance with ENERGY STAR. Source Named third among the Top 10 HPwES contractors for most completed projects and savings, January to December 2023, in PSE&G program correspondence of 2024-03-28. Honoured at the ceremony of 2024-04-04, Pines Manor, Edison NJ.
  • 2024 PSE&G Residential Program Trade Ally Award. Source Badge issued 2025-05-06 by ICF. Performance year confirmed outright by the deactivation notice of 2026-03-04.
  • 2025 PSE&G Residential Program Trade Ally Award. Source Badge issued 2026-03-17 by ICF naming Ciel Power a 2026 award recipient, which under the program convention recognises 2025 performance.
  • ABC World News Tonight, Save Money on Energy This Winter. Source ABC has retired the video. The page carries the segment headline but no longer names the participants.
  • ABC World News Tonight, Tips to save on home-heating bills as temperatures begin to drop. Source ABC has retired the video. The page carries the segment headline and describes a New Jersey family.

How the numbers are counted

  • 5,000+ home energy assessments since 2010. A count of completed assessments in Ciel Power records from 2010 through 2025. Not independently audited.
  • 4× ENERGY STAR Contractor of the Year. Awarded in 2019, 2020, 2021 and 2023. Each year is listed in the EPA Profiles in Leadership document for that year, and each is linked above.
  • 2× ENERGY STAR Sustained Excellence. Awarded in 2021 and 2023. Sustained Excellence is carried with Contractor of the Year, and the EPA partner page for Ciel Power shows the designation.

What is being withheld

These are things we believe to be true and cannot yet point you to. They are not on any other page of this site, and they stay off until there is a source.

  • ABC World News Tonight. In the Ciel Power journal (~2022-01-30) but with no external ABC link and no recording. Distinct from the June 2022 GMA AC-costs segment. Needs a URL or a recording.
  • NJ Sustainable Business Council. The article exists but njsbcouncil.org serves a mismatched TLS certificate, so it cannot be linked.
  • ENERGY STAR Century Club (2016). Only source is a paid newswire release, which is self-published. Needs the EPA notification letter.
